This session will review the Diversity & Inclusion Jumpstart Kit and show the attendees how to strategically walk through the various components of the jumpstart kit and utilize the information within to create a diversity and inclusion program at their respective organization. The attendees will walk away with a thorough understanding of what it will take to create a diversity and inclusion program, including best practices, how to identify where their organization is on the diversity and inclusion continuum, top 10 rules of engagement, potential obstacles and sample reporting and metrics.

Attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the top 10 rules of engagement, potential obstacles, and sample reporting and metrics.

Bernice Jenkins
Chair of IMA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Committee

Bernice has spent the last 10 years in multiple roles as a senior accountant and finance analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama. She has worked as a management accountant for close to 20 years across multiple industries and geographical regions. She began her career with the General Electric Company (GE) as a graduate of two of GE’s financial leadership development programs: Financial Management Program and Corporate Audit Staff.

Ms. Jenkins serves on the IMA Global Board, in addition to two of IMA’s standing advisory committees: ICMA Exam Review Committee as well as the Diversity and Inclusion Committee which she chairs. As part of the IMA Global Board, she also serves on the Volunteer Leadership Standing Board Committee.

Bernice graduated from Tuskegee University (Alabama, USA) with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and has also earned an MBA and MAcc from Samford University (Alabama, USA).

Shayne Samuel Mazarira, CMA
Investment Analyst

Shayne Samuel is an Investment Analyst by profession with a primary focus on portfolio management and optimization as well as corporate development. He has over five years of experience in the field of accounting and finance spanning banking, hospitality and currently the oil and gas industry.

Shayne is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and holds a degree (Hons) in Banking & Finance majoring in Investments and Portfolio Management. He is currently pursuing the CFA charter, having completed level 1 of the program.

In addition, Shayne is a mental health advocate for those in the corporate sector. He is privileged to be part of the IMA's Standing Advisory Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion since 2021 in addition to being the incoming Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the IMA Abu Dhabi Chapter where he has served as the board secretary for thepast2terms.
